My icks are tissue sewing patterns. Get that floaty, easily torn ish out of here!!! Pinning patterns to fabric? Please shut up and leave me alone.
I love a traceable cardboard/cardstock pattern. I love pattern weights. I use fancy glass paperweights for mine. So I have a practical excuse to collect them and an aesthetic time while cutting my patterns out.
Also, hate tracing pattern markings and hate cutting fabric in general!!! The best solution has been a cutting mat and rotary cutter but JEEZ it still sucks and takes too long.
I appreciate the honesty!! Thread tension is HORRIBLE! so hard. Also sewing on stretch fabric. I finally learned some good skills to help but it is still a mess!
I get a little frustrated with the amount of ease in some patterns - I have some that are up to 7" of "design and pattern ease". I can understand 2" plus or minus, of course, depending on fabric, pattern, how fitted or loose you like your garments... But wow, I've had to totally remake a thing or two because I didn't understand "ease"... And some patterns make it really hard to find that "finished garment measurement" - not always on the package...
And thank you for the post!! I agree about sewing machines, fabric, tools, notions... Even sewing pins these days seem really shoddy... :( But thank you for all you do, Tanner! You are awesome and amazing! <3
It’s the little free seam ripper with the 2 inch long handle. I sew a lot, probably seam rip even more than I sew, bought one with a proper handle and it was a revelation.
Man I’ve gotta say the fact ur using these somewhat vintage paintings of people for ur posts, especially this one being so perfectly fit, is cracking me up
My sewing ick is messing up on a project and having to seam rip the entire thing…I HATE seam ripping!!
